On a day like today, how would you like the pages of today’s experiences to read? Imagine yourself as the main character and the day has come to a close. You pick up your storybook (the one about your life) and begin reading over the pages that have been penned from this morning through this evening. What is it like reading over these pages?  Are there certain moments that you are pleased with?  Are there moments you wish you could have done something differently?

It’s easy to get swept up in the routines, tasks, and demands of our daily lives. All of us have experienced this. I wonder though… what if you thought of your life as a story being written… however, you begin with the end in mind. Beginning with the end in mind allows us to consider what we desire overall, and allows us to think about what we can actually control. You and I are well aware that there are many factors that far surpass our ability to change. But what if you observed the main character (that’s you) and decided how you want to show up in life, just for today. “Wouldn’t it be nice,” you might be thinking, “if everything went according to plan… without issue?”  My reply would be, “yes, absolutely! I hear you and your desire for things to flow perfectly.”  Could it be possible, though, that you could become an even better version of you when things do not flow perfectly?

If there’s something that most human beings desire globally, it would be certainty. Our minds can create all sorts of scenarios that depict certainty when all goes perfectly. I understand; I am one of those human beings. But if we consider just how much we can accomplish despite how things will ultimately unfold, because we give ourselves permission to accept what life is in the moment and respond according to our values… well, that sounds like an adventurous story. It’s a story filled with honest moments, vulnerability, and the willingness to keep showing up; because that is who you are and how you are wired. You are wired for victory and triumph. Remember, you are the main character; you get to choose how the pages of your story will ultimately read. So, on a day like today, how do you want to write your story?
