While sitting at my desk last evening, I noticed myself paying attention to the trains going by… the rumbling of the wheels, the tone of the whistle, the slowing down and speeding up as they drop off and pick up passengers. My mind wandered to thinking about how each train has a predestined route, a schedule, and hundreds of thousands of passengers that rely on this as their means of transportation.  And then the thought occurred to me: the train is not responsible for our decision-making, whether we choose to ride the train or not. But it is responsible to fulfill its commitments to serve its passengers.

Now, you may be wondering where I’m going with this. Have you felt in your life like you’re on a train that you don’t want to be on anymore, but you don’t know how to get off? Sometimes it may feel like some else or life itself is dictating where you’re going. Maybe you believed you would disappoint someone or even yourself if you decided to switch tracks, so to speak, and go another way. Or perhaps you are wrestling with conflicting thoughts of what your options are, what you actually desire, and how you’d like to proceed in life.

When we are able to clarify our values and develop a sense of our meaning and purpose, we often experience a greater sense of freedom and control  If you find this relatable, it would be our privilege to walk with you through the unknowns and uncertainties of life, while supporting you as you identify your values and learn how to navigate the ups and downs and twists and turns of your journey.
